The Vail High School girls basketball team defeated Madonna 61-32 Monday night. The Red Knights took control with a small 8-0 run and ended the first quarter on a small 19-3 run to take a 26-8 lead at the end of one quarter. They closed the second quarter on a 12-0 spurt to take a 48-17 lead at intermission and went on a 10-1 spurt early in the third quarter to extend their lead to 40 points before substituting their bench.

The Red Knights got 14 points from Rayna Hoover, 12 from Janai Turner and 11 each from Mea Kaufman and Malee Faulks. Madison Owens hit three 3-pointers and scored nine points for Madonna, while Addie Welsh hit two 3-pointers and scored eight points.

Big Red girls basketball bounces back to beat Brooke

The Big Red women's basketball team rebounded from an opening loss with a 55-14 blowout win over visiting Brooke on Monday night. Coach Angie Ford's team improved their record to 2-1 with the win.

Nylah McShan scored 18 points, Bailee Beall hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 12 points, Aniyah Warner scored 10 points to round out a trio of double-digit scorers, and Rylee Rylee Schwertfeger scored 11 points.

East Liverpool defeats Catholic Central

East Liverpool combined for 45 points inside and out in a 57-46 win over Catholic Central on Monday inside Mitch Barber Gymnasium.

Shooting guard Kenzie Walker chipped in a game-high 27 points for the Potters, who are 4-1. Kenze Headley was stellar in the paint, scoring 18 points. Ten of her points came off rebounds.

East Liverpool led 13-12 after the opening tip and 30-22 at intermission. The Crusaders trailed by just three points in the final eight minutes thanks to six points from Mary Rohde and five from Natalie Cherepko. The Potters outscored their opponents 16-7 in the final stanza to cap off the victory.

Anna Arai once again led Central with 16 points and is now 2-1 from the field. She also grabbed 13 rebounds and finished with a double-double. cherepko scored nine points.

Central will be empowered when they visit Oak Glen on December 11th. East Liverpool will play Big Red on Thursday.

Edison Drops Close One to Toronto

The Edison girls basketball team defeated Toronto on the road Monday by a 48-47 point margin.

For the Wildcats, Pressly Meadows scored 12 points, Abigail Boka had 10 and Rebecka Evans 10. For the Red Knights, Michelle Anderson scored a game-high 23 points and Tatum Derrington had 13.

The Knights led 27-24 at halftime and took a 33-31 lead into the fourth quarter, but Edison outscored them 17-14 in the fourth quarter to close out the win.

Creek defeats Bobcats

Indian Creek improved its early season record to 3-1 with a big 54-22 win over Cambridge on the road Monday night. The Redskins scored 25 points in the first quarter and didn't look back. Tori Robertson scored 16 points and Kylie Anderson had 15.
